🌍 ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಮಾಹಿತಿ

ಗದಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯು ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕವಾಗಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಸರಾಸರಿ 657 ಮೀಟರ್ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

  • ನದಿಗಳು: ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಉತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಮಲಪ್ರಭಾ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಗಭದ್ರಾ ನದಿಗಳು ಹರಿಯುತ್ತವೆ.
  • ಮಣ್ಣು: ಈ ಭಾಗವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಫಲವತ್ತಾದ ಕಪ್ಪು ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹತ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶೇಂಗಾ ಬೆಳೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
  • ಕಪ್ಪತ್ತಗುಡ್ಡ: ಇದನ್ನು “ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ” ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಗಿಡಮೂಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಆಗರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಧಾಮವಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಳಿಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುವ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪವನ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳಿವೆ.

ರೋಣಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅನಂತಶಯನ ಗುಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಂತಹ ಪುರಾತನ ಸ್ಮಾರಕಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿ.
ಮುಂಡರಗಿಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಿಂಗಟಾಲೂರು ಏತ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಮತ್ತು ತುಂಗಭದ್ರಾ ನದಿಯ ತೀರದ ರಮಣೀಯ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ.
ನರಗುಂದ1857ರ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಸಂಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಡಿದ ಬಾಬಾಸಾಹೇಬ ಭಾಸ್ಕರರಾವ್ ಭಾವೆ ಅವರ ವೀರಭೂಮಿ.
ಶಿರಹಟ್ಟಿಹಿಂದೂ-ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಭಾವೈಕ್ಯತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾದ ಫಕೀರೇಶ್ವರ ಮಠಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ತಾಲೂಕು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗಜೇಂದ್ರಗಡಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಕೋಟೆ, ಕಾಲಕಾಲೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಮತ್ತು ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಸೀರೆಗಳು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ.
ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೇಶ್ವರಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಪುಲಿಗೆರೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಇದು, ಸೋಮೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಜೈನ ಬಸದಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಚಾರಿತ್ರಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.

📍 ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಣೀಯ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳು

1. ತ್ರಿಕೂಟೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯ

11ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಈ ಚಾಲುಕ್ಯ ಶೈಲಿಯ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಲಾದ ಮೂರು ಶಿವಲಿಂಗಗಳಿವೆ (ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ, ವಿಷ್ಣು, ಮಹೇಶ್ವರ). ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕಂಬಗಳ ಕೆತ್ತನೆ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿದೆ.

2. ವೀರನಾರಾಯಣ ದೇವಾಲಯ

ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮಹಾಕವಿ ಕುಮಾರವ್ಯಾಸನು ಇದೇ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕಂಬದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತು ‘ಕರ್ಣಾಟ ಭಾರತ ಕಥಾಮಂಜರಿ’ (ಗದುಗಿನ ಭಾರತ) ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದನು.

3. ಲಕ್ಕುಂಡಿ (ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಗ್ರಾಮ)

ಗದಗದಿಂದ 12 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಲಕ್ಕುಂಡಿಯು ಚಾಲುಕ್ಯರ ಕಾಲದ ನೂರಾರು ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿಗಳಿಗೆ (ಹೊಂಡಗಳು) ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಜಿನಾಲಯ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿದೆ.

4. ಮಾಗಡಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಧಾಮ

ವಿದೇಶಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಾದ ಬಾರ್-ಹೆಡೆಡ್ ಗೂಸ್ (ಪಟ್ಟೆ ತಲೆಯ ಹೆಬ್ಬಾತುಗಳು) ಮಧ್ಯ ಏಷ್ಯಾದಿಂದ ಚಳಿಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ವಲಸೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ.

🌍 Geography & Landscape

Gadag’s geography is as diverse as its history. Located in the northern part of Karnataka, the district sits at an average elevation of 657 meters above sea level.

  • Boundaries: The district is naturally bounded by two of Karnataka’s most important rivers: the Malaprabha to the north and the Tungabhadra to the south.
  • The Soil: Known as the “Land of Black Soil” (Kari Mannu), the region is exceptionally fertile for cotton and oilseeds, making it an agricultural powerhouse.
  • The Kappatagudda Hills: Often called the “Sahyadri of North Karnataka,” this semi-arid hill range is the district’s most significant geographical feature. It is a rich biodiversity hub famous for medicinal plants and massive wind energy farms.
  • Climate: The region experiences a semi-arid climate. Summers (March to May) can be hot, with temperatures reaching 42°C, while winters (December to February) are pleasant, dropping to around 16°C.

1. Trikuteshwara Temple Complex

A masterpiece of Chalukyan architecture, this 11th-century temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  • The Unique Deity: It houses three Shiva Lingas carved from a single rock.
  • Saraswati Temple: Located within the same complex, it features exquisitely carved pillars and life-sized stone figures.

2. Veeranarayana Temple

A fascinating blend of Chalukya, Hoysala, and Vijayanagara styles. This is where the poet Kumaravyasa composed the Kannada Mahabharata.

3. Lakkundi: The Heritage Village

Located just 12 km from Gadag, Lakkundi was once a royal mint and home to over 50 ancient temples and 101 historical stepwells (Pushkaranis).

4. Magadi Bird Sanctuary

A haven for migratory birds, particularly the Bar-headed Goose, which travels from Central Asia to spend its winters here.
